Yo-We Kachinas

These are unusual kachinas called Priest Killers or Yo-We. The artist, Tommy Collateta, is somewhat of a renegade, and specializes in producing dolls which can be shocking and somewhat taboo. In history, the Jesuit priests often attacked Indian women and these dolls depict a man whose wife was attacked, and who had his revenge. His mask is removeable and he is holding the head of the priest.
